TOP 20 SPORTS IP OWNERS
The Biggest 20 Sports IP Owners By Revenue
The cyclical nature of many of the biggest Sports IP Owners means there will always be movement in the Top 20. There are, however, ever-presents that could well remain in the Top 20 for many years to come. Here are the headlines from this year's Top 20:
- The IOC, primarily generating revenues through media and the TOP programme, and Paris 2024, the LOCOG leveraging the Olympic Rings to deliver record ticketing and local sponsorship revenues, are the biggest climbers this year at 5th and 7th respectively.
- The consolidation of UFC and WWE into ‘TKO’ sees the newly confederated IP owner climb to 11th.
- The NFL remains top of the pile, growing its revenues by approximately 8%, including a new deal with Netflix for its two Christmas Day Games for approx. $150M.
- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (3rd), Churchill Downs (12th) and US Polo Association (13th) continue to break the mold of the traditional ‘Top 20’ by generating relatively little sponsorship and media dollars. With the first two carving out highly successful and entrenched betting businesses and the US Polo Association making a remarkable $2.4B from retail and licensing.
